Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns Live Streaming
Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers insisted they weren’t panicking about their sinking playoff chances after a three-game losing streak. A fourth straight loss, however, seems to have the Super Bowl champions contemplating wholesale changes.
With their chances of defending that title fading with each defeat, the Steelers hit the road Thursday night looking to halt their midseason swoon with a 13th consecutive victory over the feeble Cleveland Browns.
Pittsburgh (6-6) started the season 1-2, but then ran off five consecutive wins to put itself in position to challenge emerging Cincinnati in the AFC North.
An 18-12 Bengals victory at Heinz Field on Nov. 15, however, gave Cincinnati a one-game lead and a season sweep of the Steelers. Three subsequent losses by three points apiece have now left Pittsburgh’s wild-card hopes in doubt.
The Steelers’ once-vaunted defense has blown fourth-quarter leads in all three, with its worst collapse Sunday against Oakland. Pittsburgh coughed up three separate leads in the final 8:21, allowing the Raiders’ 31st-ranked offense to score 21 points and leave Heinz Field with a 27-24 win.
“I can’t even describe how frustrating it is right now to be 6-6,” linebacker James Farrior said. “We thought we’d be doing a lot better at this point. But we are what our record says we are. ”
That record currently has the Steelers on the outside of the playoff picture looking in, but ground can certainly be made up in the muddled AFC wild-card picture the final four weeks. Denver (8-4) and Jacksonville (7-5) are the two current leaders, with Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Miami and the New York Jets all 6-6.
The Steelers own a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Broncos and face the Ravens and Dolphins to close the season.
Tomlin, however, is far more concerned with the franchise avoiding its first five-game slide since Sept. 28-Nov. 2, 2003. A week after saying his team “doesn’t blink in the face of adversity” and would “unleash hell in December,” Tomlin admitted Monday that personnel moves are on the way.
“We can’t stay status quo in terms of how we’re approaching this and expect the pattern of behavior or outcome to change,” Tomlin said. “That’s unrealistic. That’s hoping. This is not a hope business. ”
One of those likely moves certainly won’t be by choice. Receiver Hines Ward, who has six touchdowns in his last eight games against Cleveland, likely won’t play after suffering a hamstring injury late in the loss to Oakland. Rookie Mike Wallace, who has five catches during the losing streak after having 25 in his first seven games, will get the start if Ward can’t go.
The other noticeable changes will come in the secondary. All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu (knee) will likely miss his fourth straight game — he left early in the November loss to Cincinnati — and struggling cornerback William Gay might not play after suffering a concussion against the Raiders.
Meanwhile, Tomlin suggested veteran corner Ike Taylor, who was beaten for a 75-yard touchdown Sunday, could be benched, with rookies Joe Burnett and Keenan Lewis seeing more playing time in the secondary. Polamalu, who’s played in three full games, has three interceptions, but no Pittsburgh cornerback has a pick.
“I’m not going to make excuses,” Tomlin said. “I think we’re capable of playing winning football with or without Troy. Are we different? Yes, because Troy’s a unique individual. Maybe the ceiling is different but the floor, the level of expectation, is the same. ”
Ben Roethlisberger, who missed the team’s Nov. 29 loss at Baltimore with a concussion, had a quarterback rating over 100. 0 for his second straight game despite Sunday’s loss, and the Ohio native was outstanding against the Browns (1-11) earlier this season. Roethlisberger was 23 of 35 for 417 yards and two touchdowns on Oct. 18 in Pittsburgh’s 27-14 win, its 12th straight against Cleveland.
San Diego’s 13-game winning streak over Oakland is the active record for most consecutive wins over one opponent.

Thursday Night Football Preview: Dolphins vs. Panthers : We are now into week 11, of the 2009 NFL season and this Thursday night will see the Miami Dolphins, take on the likes of the Carolina Panthers, at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The game kicks off at 8:20 pm EST.
According to both the Miami Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers, have two quality running backs. The Dolphins have Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, while the Panthers have Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams.
Both Brown and Williams have suffered injuries recently, but Williams played on Sunday so should be all good to go on Thursday night. Brown on the other hand, hurt his ankle on Sunday, so is likely to be out of the game on Thursday.
Without Ronnie Brown on the team, the Dolphins will have to just rely on Williams. They may even opt to let Chad Henne pass the ball more than usual. Chad Henne has 990 passing yards, with four touchdowns and three interceptions.
Miami Dolphins (4-5 SU, 4-5 ATS) vs. Carolina Panthers (4-5 SU, 4-5 ATS), NFL Week 11, 8:20 p. m. EST, Thursday, November 19, 2009, Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, N. C. TV: NFL Network

If you like passing, this is not the game for you. But if you like running, this certainly is the game for you. Two of the top five running teams in the league meet up on Thursday night, as the Carolina Panthers host the Miami Dolphins.
Both of these teams have two quality running backs. The Dolphins have Ronnie Brownand Ricky Williams, and the Panthers have DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. The Panthers run a conventional style, while the Dolphins often use the wildcat formation. But Brown and Williams are banged up with injuries. Williams played on Sunday and should be good to go on Thursday.
Brown hurt his ankle on Sunday and is likely out on Thursday. Without Brown, the Dolphins will have to rely on Williams, and they may opt to let Chad Henne pass the ball more than usual.
Henne has 990 passing yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions with a 58. 9 completion percentage. Brown has 648 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. Williams has 558 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. The Dolphins running backs have accounted in some way for 16 of the team’s 21 offensive touchdowns this season.
The Dolphins are coming off a dramatic 25-23 win over the Buccaneers. The Dolphins held a 22-16 lead in the fourth quarter until the Bucs scored a touchdown with 1:14 remaining. But Henne led the Dolphins on a four-play, 68-yard drive that lasted a minute, including two passes to Davone Bess for 41 yards and a 27-yard run by Williams, to set up a game-winning field goal by Dan Carpenter with 10 seconds left in the game.
The Panthers are coming off a 28-19 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The Panthers have won four of their last six games after starting off 0-3. Against the Falcons, the Panthers unleashed a no-huddle offense that was quite successful for quarterback Jake Delhomme. He threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Any time Delhomme can throw decently and not turn the ball over, the Panthers have a great chance to win. DeAngelo Williams ran for 92 yards, and Stewart ran for 82 yards and two touchdowns. The Panthers gave up 111 yards on just nine carries to Falcons running back Michael Turner before he left with an injury. The Falcons had 176 total rushing yards. That’s not a good sign for the Panthers defense heading into a game against the Dolphins.
For the season, Williams has 860 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Stewart has 466 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
This game will likely come down to which team does a better job stopping the run. The Dolphins being without Brown will be a huge blow if he indeed does not play. But Williams is capable of picking up the slack just fine, however the Dolphins probably would then cut down a bit on the wildcat formation. That would be an advantage for the Panthers. The Dolphins also have a fairly weak pass defense, so Delhomme could exploit that if he can get Steve Smith involved. The Panthers have a pretty good pass defense, so it could be a tough game for Henne, especially if the Dolphins aren’t able to dominate on the ground.
The total has gone over in five of Miami’s last six games. These two teams last played in 2005, when the Dolphins won the game in Miami, 27-24.
Ryno’s Pick: These two teams are pretty evenly matched. With the Dolphins getting more than a field goal, normally they would be a solid value pick. But if Brown doesn’t play, it’s tough to predict how well the Dolphins will play without him. If the Dolphins aren’t as effective as usual with their running game without him, Henne probably won’t be able to carry the offense himself, especially against a solid pass defense. The Panthers played well against the Falcons and are playing very well the last few weeks. With a consistent running attack and Delhomme playing well against the Falcons in the new no-huddle offense, the Panthers should be able to mix it up well and put up some points on the Dolphins. The Panthers will continue to play well on both sides of the ball and win one at home. Take the Panthers -3. 5.
The undefeated Indianapolis Colts (13-0) have a chance to take one more step towards greatness Thursday when they travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars (7-6). For the home underdog, the win is equally important, but for a different set of reasons; like making the playoffs.
NFL Odds:
Line: Colts -3
Over/Under: 41. 5
Jacksonville missed the post-season party last year and was labelled as one of the NFL’s biggest disappointments. When Sportsbook Online posted win totals and odds for the Jags to improve this season the projections were much more modest and the team has responded positively.
Following a 41-0 loss at Seattle in Week 6 the Jags have played their best football since 2007, going 5-3 SU and at least putting themselves in position to make a charge at one of two AFC Wild Card spots. The Jaguars will make the playoffs as a wild-card team if they beat the Colts, New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns in their final three games.
Okay, if the first two teams on that list suddenly made you cross the Jags off your playoff party invite list, consider that Indianapolis has one of the longest injury reports in the entire league right now. HC Jim Caldwell has publicly announced that he is treating this game just like any of the first 13 Indy has won this year, but keep in mind, the guy is a rookie. What else can he possibly say?
QB Peyton Manning and all of his receivers will take the field for the final Thursday night game of the year but there is no guarantee they will be out there for the full 60 minutes. On defense we can expect to see DE Dwight Freeney and LBs Clint Sessions and Gary Brackett along with safety Antoine Bethea for much of the first-half but Caldwell has been with the Colts through all of their success the past decade and knows that being healthy for a run to the Super Bowl is far more important than a perfect regular season record.
As for the Patriots and Browns, well, Jacksonville better concentrate on taking this one day at a time. The drama coming out of New England right now is already serving as a big enough distraction for Tom Brady and his crew.
The Jaguars need to be focused on cutting down the number of mental mistakes that were so common last week against the Dolphins because there is little margin for error available. Dropped passes and penalties are what cost the Tennessee Titans in Week 13 at Indy and even if Manning doesn’t plan to finish the game, it doesn’t take him long to capitalize on a mistake.
Jacksonville is the least penalized defense in the NFL and playing in their final home game of the season, which also happens to be their third straight at home, the opportunity for betting on the Jags to keep their playoff hopes alive still exists.
Sportsbook Online SPORTSBETTING. com is reporting balanced action on this game, with 56% of the volume on the road favorite Colts. This would be higher if the speculation wasn’t about a short game for some of the key Indy players. Hard to be on a team when you don’t know if Manning, Reggie Wayne, Joseph Addai, etc. will be on the bench in the 4th quarter.
The Over/Under has come down a point or two since opening at 43, as again, the sports betting public feel the Colts might rest key players. The betting trends show that all five Thursday Night Football games this season so far have stayed under the posted total.
I look at this game and like the home underdog. I think if they limit mistakes, they can stay close and have a great shot at the upset win. So I’m playing a unit on the Jaguars.
Good luck and enjoy the game.

A victory against Cleveland would be a necessary first step for the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh to keep its playoff hopes alive or the Browns can ruin rival Steelers’ season with victory. With their chances of defending that title fading with each defeat, the Steelers hit the road Thursday night looking to halt their midseason swoon with a 13th consecutive victory over the feebleCleveland Browns . Pittsburgh (6-6) started the season 1-2, but then ran off five consecutive wins to put itself in position to challenge emerging Cincinnati in the AFC North. Three subsequent losses by three points apiece have now left Pittsburgh’s wild-card hopes in doubt. We are just two days away from another Thursday Night Football NFL picks matchup, this week the Pittsburgh Steelers will be heading to Cleveland to take on the Browns. After the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Oakland Raiders just about anything can happen this Thursday night as the Steelers look to avoid a fifth straight NFL picks loss.
The 6-6 Pittsburgh Steelers take on the 1-11 Cleveland Browns Thursday night on the NFL Network in a Week 14 AFC North Division clash. Last week, the defending Super Bowl champs were shocked at home by the lowly Raiders while the Browns gave the Chargers all they wanted but eventually fell 30-23. The Steelers and the Browns have already met once this season with the Steelers winning 27-14 behind a 417-yard performance by QB Ben Roethlisberger. This head-to-head matchup has been all Pittsburgh with the Steelers winning 12 in a row. NFL odds makers expect Pittsburgh’s dominance over Cleveland to continue, listing the Steelers as a 10-point favorite with the total set at 34.
Cleveland is just 1-10 in its last 11 divisional games and already eliminated from the playoffs, and if the playoffs started today, Pittsburgh would be on the outside looking in as well. Cleveland would like nothing more than to end their 12-game losing streak to Pittsburgh and to, perhaps, spoil the Steelers playoff chances in the process.
The good news is that the Browns have not quit yet. They have been competitive in each of their last four games and have covered the spread in three straight games as a result. Cleveland’s defense is much better than many realize, but the statistics don’t paint that picture as it has to spend way too much time on the field due to the Browns lackluster offense. That defense will have to be on its A-game Thursday night, but it will need some help from the offense to have any chance at pulling off the upset. Brady Quinn has played much better in recent weeks as he tries to convince management that he is the long term answer at QB. He can really make a statement this week if he can play well against a Steelers defense that has allowed 27 points to both Kansas City and Oakland in two of their last three games. It is worth noting that the Steelers are on a 0-5 ATS skid versus teams with a losing record.
The Steelers have lost four in a row to find themselves slipping out of the playoff picture. This skid has Mike Tomlinson facing adversity for the first time as a head coach. He has hinted that he may shake up the lineup to get his team’s attention. The bottom line is, he must have his team ready to play on the road without much preparation time against a Browns team that is not laying down.
The Steelers absolutely crushed the Browns through the air in the season’s first meeting, but the passing game could take a hit as Hines Ward could miss with a hamstring injury. That means the Steelers could use a coming out party from Limas Sweed. Big things were expected from Sweed, who was drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft, but so far he has been a major disappointment with only once catch this season. It is worth noting that the Steelers are 8-3-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings. If you like Pittsburgh to continue its dominance over the Browns.

The third week of pre-season program begins Thursday night with three games. This is the big week in the pre-season football play holders as half full, with some players to deepen in the third quarter.
BetRepublic watch the games on their sport in Paris on Thursday night television, and television presenter Sonny Palermo Dempson and Greg talked about football and NFL teams Wednesday night Betting Show.
The game based on the night of the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Philadelphia: - 7 ½
Over / Under: 37
Michael Vick is history. You see the action and the word is to be the first team offense. There is much speculation about what head coach Andy Reid Vick used throughout the season as Donovan McNabb is a lock as the starting quarterback. Vick could be number two or three glasses on the list but it is also only one athlete to hold a clipboard all season.
The three-time Pro Bowl quarter has not played in an NFL game since December 31, 2006. Against the Jaguars, alleviating McNabb is expected to play deep into the third quarter. Vick will have a few reps with the first team from Reid, but will not be asked to do much.
The Eagles did not win a preseason game losing both New England and Indianapolis. Running back Brian Westbrook returned to practice this week approved an ankle operation and will not play against the Jaguars. The offensive line was severely beaten by injury. LT Jason Peters has been hampered by a quadriceps injury most of training camp and left guard Todd Herremans will miss the start of the season with a stress reaction in his foot.
Stacy Andrews is recovering from ACL surgery in January has not played in one of the first two preseason games. His brother Shawn Andrews reinjured his back on the first day of camp and has not been in practice since then.
The loss of star defensive middle linebacker Stewart Bradley of the season will hurt the Eagles. It will be hard to replace his leadership and 151, but addresses the search for Joe Mays to make a statement against the Jaguars.
The Jaguars are also pre-season without winning on QB David Garrard has looked very good. He has a new favorite target in the former Viking Troy Williamson has had two very good games. The Jaguars are looking to recover from last year and this will be a good test to see how they will be competitive. Maurice Jones-Drew will play the entire first half and should be effective against the Eagles.
Linebacker Clint Ingram suffered a blow to the head during the last game and is listed as questionable, as is linebacker Lamar Myles, who suffered a hand injury.
St. Louis at Cincinnati
Bengals: - 2 ½
Over / Under: 35
The Rams are not very well in the preseason, although he had a winner in a game against the Jets. The Bengals, on the other hand played well, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
The big news in this game is that Carson Palmer will not play when you are recovering from an ankle injury. JT O'Sullivan will get the start, but no one to confuse Palmer. Third series QB Jordan Palmer, Carson's brother, will look good against the Rams.
Cedric Benson is trying to have a great game, but the loss of tight end Reggie Kelly for the season with an ACL injury can affect performance and transmission of the Bengals game. The defense played well so far and the Patriots lead to six points in the second preseason game.
The Rams have been inconsistent and now likely face the Bengals without starting QB Marc Bulger, who is out after injuring his little finger on his throwing hand. Former Raven Kyle Boller will get most of the snaps. Left tackle Alex Barron has a swollen knee and will be replaced in the lineup by rookie first-round pick Jason Smith. WR Donnie Avery is the treatment of an injury and not playing.

Miami at Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay - 2 ½
Over / Under: 35
Miami goes to Tampa with a ton of gadget plays and two preseason games under his belt quite consistent. Chad Pennington looks great after having the opportunity to be in the camp of the dolphins to a full season. The racing game with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams looked sharp.
Defensive backs Sean Smith and Jason Allen should be back in the lineup after missing the last game with the swine flu-like symptoms. Jason Taylor has studied well in his return to date.
Tampa Bay is still trying to determine who will be the starting quarterback. Byron Leftwich should get most of the first half snaps, but the search for Luke McCown to play with many of the first string in the second half. Both quarterbacks will receive much support from a very good game with former Giant running back Derrick Ward, Cadillac Williams and Earnest Graham.
The Bucs have won a great success on defense this week, when they lost linebacker Angelo Crowell for the season with a biceps injury. Cornerback Elbert Mack lost the Dolphins game with a sprained ankle. Safety Will Allen has become the practice and could play against the Finns.
Enjoy all the shares of pre-season and good luck with your choices.
